Being in your 20s can be a struggle, especially when trying to balance meals into your budget with the current state of the economy.
To combat this, and to help give some ideas, I have compiled a list of 3 meals that can be made from ingredients from Walmart. Even better, each is under $10, and feeds at least two people! (Perhaps dinner one day, lunch the next!)
Spaghetti and sauce with garlic bread and salad (Makes 4-8 meals):
Great Value Spaghetti, 16oz — $0.98
Great Value Tomato Basil Garlic Pasta Sauce, 24 oz — $1.67
Marketside Caesar Salad Kit, 11.55oz — $3.48
Great Value Garlic Texas Toast, 8 count — $2.24
SUBTOTAL: $8.37
Chicken Fajita Bowls (Makes 2-3 meals):
Perdue Short Cuts, Refrigerated Grilled Chicken Strips, 8oz — $3.98
Knorr Fiesta Mexican Rice, 5.4oz — $1.28
Great Value Seasoning Blend, 10oz — $1.38
Great Value All Natural Sour Cream, 8oz — $1.24
Great Value Fajita Seasoning Mix, 1.25oz — $0.62
Great Value Black Beans, 15oz — $0.86
SUBTOTAL: $9.36
Well-known Bowls (Makes 4-8 meals)
Banquet Popcorn Chicken, 24 oz — $4.98
Great Value Instant Mashed Potatoes, 9oz — $1.26
Great Value Homestyle Chicken Flavored Gravy, 12oz — $1.47
Great Value Whole Kernel Sweet Corn, 29oz — $1.16
SUBTOTAL: $8.87
All in all these together make 10-19 meals for under $30. That could be lunch and dinner all week! Eating can be expensive but there’s ways to eat affordably while still eating food that is filling.
