Sometimes, all you need is an ugly sob session to get you through your day.

The end of this movie is guaranteed to make you sob, and who doesn’t love a young Matt Damon?
2. Marley & Me
This inspirational and heart-wrenching movie portrays something many of us can relate to: the companionship of a pooch. This film shows just how much a dog can affect the lives of its owners. Get your tissues ready, because Marley & Me is a real tear jerker.
3. Up
If you want a movie to make you sob in the first fifteen minutes, look no further than Disney’s Up. This 2009 film tells the story of the bitter, old Mr. Fredrickson and his attempt to hold on to the memory of his late wife and newfound friendship with the young Russell. Both characters’ childhood dreams come true when the unlikely pair go on the adventure of a lifetime. Up is guaranteed to make you cry happy and sad tears.
4. A Girl Like Her
Get. Your. Tissues. Out. This 2015 documentary-style film follows the story of Jessica, a high school student who attempts suicide after being the target of relentless bullying. It’s revealed during the movie that Jessica secretly wore a camera and recorded many of the incidents, showing a victim’s-eye-view of bullying. This film will put tears in your eyes from beginning to end.
5. E.T. the Extra Terrestrial
This 1982 Spielberg classic depicts the story of an alien accidently left behind on Earth and befriending a young boy and his siblings. This inspirational movie showcases the influence a friend — human or otherwise — can have on a person. E.T is basically guaranteed to make you happy cry.
6. Saving Private Ryan
This 1998 military drama tells the story of the search for a young soldier who is missing in action. The film begins with a powerful and shocking first-hand depiction of soldiers storming the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. This movie evokes powerful emotions and has the ability to make you laugh and cry.
7. Life is Beautiful
This 1998 Italian film is the story of a family’s attempt to survive a World War II concentration camp. The story follows Guido, a young man who falls in love with a young woman named Dora. They have a child together and are eventually taken away to the concentration camp. In the movie, Roberto Benigni’s character, Guido, shields his young son from the horrors of the camp by pretending it’s all a game. This movie produces powerful emotions of sadness, grief and the triumph of the human spirit.
8. My Sister’s Keeper
This movie is morose from the get-go. Kate, a young girl, is diagnosed with leukemia, so her mother (Cameron Diaz) decides to have another child, Anna, whose bone marrow is a genetic match to Kate’s. The movie takes a turn when Anna decides she doesn’t want to undergo medical procedures for her sister any longer. This film will make you cry from beginning to end.
9. Bridge to Terabithia
This 2007 movie depicts the story of a young boy in a rural American town who befriends the new girl at school. The two go into the woods and imagine the fantasy land of Terabithia until tragedy strikes. The end of this movie will make you sob and then smile at the wonders of the childhood imagination.
10. Forrest Gump
This 1994 film tells the story of Forrest Gump, a mentally disabled man who always seems to be in the right place at the right time. Throughout his many adventures, the only things he really cares about are his mother and the girl he loves, Jenny. No matter how many times you’ve seen Forrest Gump, it’s still guaranteed to choke you up every time.
