The sun is out and school is officially coming to an end. This means the kids need something to keep them busy during the long summer days. On a budget, or just looking for inexpensive ways to create backyard fun, this is the perfect way to keep your children occupied.
Step 1:
Wood can be expensive and extremely messy. A perfect 
sturdy alternative is cardboard. In order to save a few pennies, I made my way to the nearest Lowe’s and asked for any extra boxes they could part with. To my surprise, this is a question frequently asked by shoppers and the workers were happy to help. Free of charge, I walked away with a refrigerator box.
Step 2:
Next, open the box and lay it on its side horizontally. The side view of the box should resemble the photo to the right.
Step 3:
Once the box is horizontal, grab a pencil/pen and a round object you can trace circles from. I chose a roll of tape.
Step 4:
Beginning tracing circles.You want to make the circles different sizes on the cardboard in order to make the game a bit more entertaining.
Step 5:
Once you’ve finished tracing, use a knife and cut each circle out. DO NOT throw out the scraps, they’ll come in handy later.
Step 6:
Once all the circles are cut out. Paint the board any color you’d like. I chose black.
Step 7:
Next step is to make it visually appealing, how about adding a bit more paint. I decided to do paint splatters in different colors to spruce up the board. I stood the board up vertically to make the painting process easier.
Step 8:
This is when the spare cut out circles come in handy. Paint each pair of one small circle and one big circle the same color. I matched the circles with the paint splatters on the blackboard.
Step 9:
One option is using a hot glue gun but I settled for a cheaper and easier solution: Double-sided tape. Seperate the colors and sizes evenly among the board and tape them on.
Step 10:
Lastly, add scores above each hole, depending on the size. For example, the smaller the hole, the more points it’s worth.
Bean Bags can be made out of balloons filled with rice or you can use any spare balls you find at home.
Summer activities do not have to be expensive to have the maximum amount of fun. This is easily stored and can be reused time after time. I hope you enjoy your new D.I.Y at home bean bag toss.
